Tomsk presented its technologies in Ulsan, South Korea

Around 200 representatives of South Korean business, universities, research centers, science parks, and business associations had a chance to get familiar with Tomsk innovations in the fields such as nanotechnologies, advanced materials, petrochemistry, pharmacology, and biotechnologies.

In May Ulsan, South Korea, hosted an international workshop which gathered representatives of 75 Korean companies, 8 science parks (out of 18 in total in Korea), and 8 research institutes. The workshop was organized by the Tomsk Region Administration, Ulsan Technopark, International Science and Technology Center and supported by the Korean Ministry of Science and Technology. The workshop was marked by the presence of Ulsan Mayor, Chairman of Ulsan City Council, rectors of leading universities, and chairmen of industrial business associations.

Ulsan and Tomsk have been twin cities since 2003. The workshop was held as part of the technology transfer cooperation initiative which was launched in 2011 when the president of the Ulsan Technopark visited Tomsk and signed a memorandum of understanding with the Tomsk SEZ. During his May visit in Ulsan, Maxim Volkov, Deputy Head of the Tomsk Region Depart for International and Regional relations met with Bak Maeng-woo, Ulsan Mayor and discussed the path forward for both cities.
