Tomsk SEZ resident developed unparalleled HEVC/H.265 analysis tool

15.05.2012

Solveig Multimedia announced the release of Zond 265, a new comprehensive video analyzer. The tool was created for video codec developers. It is a unique solution for analyzing an entirely new video standard HEVC/H.265.

Two months ago, at the end of February 2012, a new video compression standard – HEVC (also known as H.265) – was officially defined. It provides improved maximum resolution (up to 8,000 pixels per frame) and reduces the data speed by 67% without any impact on the quality of the picture. According to forecasts, as early as by mid-2013 almost all mobile services and HDTV displays will have switched to that standard.

Solveig Multimedia, Tomsk SEZ resident quickly responded to that important step in the development of digital video technologies and released Zond 265 which is so far the first and only software for comprehensive analysis of HEVC/H.265 streams. The unique tool will help developers create HEVC/H.265-compatible software and codecs and lay the ground for HEVC-compatible products which will see the light of day in 2013.

With Zond 265 software developers will be able to read out all the information required for the adaptation of existing codecs and devices to the new HEVC/H.265 standard. Vide data stream analysis provides standard information such as time stamp, frame sizes and frame types and various other information on each frame and image block. Zond 265 analyzes the levels of the video stream and decoding steps and presents the results in a user-friendly format.
