Singapore’s Jurong Consultants develops master plan for Tomsk SEZ reserve sites

Tomsk Region delegation headed by Aleksey Knyazev, Deputy Governor of Tomsk Region for the Research and Education Complex and Innovation Policy took part in the 7th Russia-Singapore Business Forum. About 50 companies at the Forum showed interest in working with Tomsk.

At a special session on industrial clusters, Aleksey Baryshev, CEO of the Tomsk SEZ presented the region's SEZ development experience and described the advantages of doing business in Tomsk.

Another important item on the delegation's agenda was negotiations with JURONG Consultants who is developing a master plan for the reserve sites of the Tomsk SEZ. The region has plans to set up big R&D centers and production plants there. The master plan will be presented in mid-November in Tomsk in the presence of representatives of the Russian Ministry for Economic Development and OAO SEZ.

JURONG Consultants shared their experience in the creation and management of IT and biotechnology parks in Singapore and told about the mechanisms to attract investors and residents, the services provided to the residents by the management company, etc.

The delegation also presented Tomsk Region at the Singapore Business Federation (counterpart of Russia's Chamber of Commerce and Industry). JURONG Consultants demonstrated the advantages of Tomsk Region as a favorable place for R&D work in a variety of areas. Tomsk businesses and research centers successfully presented at the Forum their developments and products. Anatoly Mamayev, Director of Sibpark presented a proprietary technology for deposition of nanostructured inorganic non-metallic coatings which provide heat and corrosion protection and improve properties such as strength. Aleksander Dygai, Director of the Research Institute of Pharmacology talked about unique medicinal products developed by the Institute and promising areas of research. The interested parties agreed to continue negotiating cooperation offline.

Jurong Consultants is a branch of the state-owned JTC Corporation which is managed by the Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry and specializes in consulting services in finance and architecture, special economic zone management, logistics and ports. JTC is the founder and manager of science parks in Singapore such as Jurong Island (the world's petrochemical industry hub), Biopolis (biomedical cluster), One-North (ICT cluster), etc. Jurong has implemented projects in 46 countries. Among its most famous projects are industrial parks in China (Suzhou, Shaghai), India (Bangalore), the UAE (Abu Dhabi, Dubai), etc.
