Tomsk Region Governor met with the President of AVIC International

27.09.2012

Tomsk Region Governor Sergey Zhvachkin held a meeting with Mr. Wu Guangquan, President of China's AVIC International.

The Governor discussed with Mr. Wu Guangquan the progress of the investment project for the creation of high value added wood processing facilities in Asino, Tomsk Region. The project has been running for several years now, but instabilities in the flow of investment and violations of Russian construction norms and standards had seriously delayed the schedule.

"The situation started improving with AVIC having entered the project," the Governor noted. "We expect from the Chinese party to accelerate the implementation of the project and are ready to facilitate it by providing most-favored treatment measures."

Mr. Wu Guangquan confirmed the importance of the project in Asino for AVIC International and expressed confidence that the project is able to catch up on the schedule. The Chinese party has already invested 2bn rubles in wood harvesting and processing operations and by the end of 2012 the amount of committed investments by AVIC will have reached 5bn rubles.

The meeting was also attended by Leonid Reznikov, Tomsk Region Vice Governor for Industry and Fuel and Energy Sector; Guo Weidong, General Director of AVIC Forestry; and Li Zhentang, General Manager of RosKitInvest.

AVIC International Holding Corporation is a Chinese aviation holding corporation with the total asset value of $14.6 billion and annual export-import turnover of $21.1 billion.
