Rosatom to take part in Radiation medicine center project

Aside from Siberian Chemical Plant development Rosatom Corporation might become a partner for the Radiation medicine center in the Tomsk region. Rosatom is also ready to support projects for the ion-exchange resins production, as well as of composite construction materials, radioactive isotopes and pharmaceuticals based on them. "This was announced during the federal working group session for the actualization of Education, research and development center INO Tomsk 2020", - said Gennady Sarychev, Deputy CEO Science and innovations, Closed Joint Stock Company.

“We have developed a road map of radiation medicine development in the Tomsk region, and it comprises four stages,” said Olga Kobyakova, interim rector in Siberian state medical university, “Right now we’re at the first stage, and we’ll be able to pass on to the second one when we launch radiological canyon with modern radiological equipment. The third stage comprises implementation of PET-technology, the Tomsk region has signed the agreement with the PET-Technology, portfolio company of Rosnano. At the fourth stage in 2016  the region will implement hadron therapy with proton accelerator.”

Olga Kobyakova supported the idea of Pyotr Chubik, rector of National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University about the launch in Tomsk region joint network education program with National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University and Siberian state medical university for the training of medical nuclear technology specialists. According to the head of Siberian state medical university, master program students will be able to study one year in National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University and during the second year in Siberian state medical university, gaining unique skills.

September 28, 2012 in Seversk Sergey Zhvachkin, Tomsk region governor and Sergey Kiriyenko, Rosatom CEO, signed an agreement between the region authorities and State Corporation, stating that Rosatom shall invest 100 billion rubles into Tomsk region before the end of 2020.
