Tomsk scientists built the first GM birch house

A pilot laminated birch log house was built in the village of Peschano-Dubrovka (Kozhevnikovsky district) following the innovative technology of Tomsk scientists.

As was reported by Tomsk State University of Architecture and Building (TSUB) modified birch is a unique construction material: it is strong and water-resistant. A pilot laminated birch log house is built in the village of Peschano-Dubrovka (Kozhevnikovsky district). Such construction is much cheaper and allows using modified birch which is in abundance in Tomsk Region and that can make a prospective construction in the villages.

The scientists work in close cooperation with some construction companies and TPU, where birch modification technologies have been developed. They think to gather innovative projects by Tomsk scientists together, draw together state-of-the-art technologies so that village buildings meet the requirements of modern energy saving intelligent house.
