The small spacecraft group consortium was set up in the Tomsk Region

In the context of the second national exhibition Vuzpromexpo 2014, National Science as the the Basis of Industrialization, Vice Governor Mikhail Sonkin signed a memorandum on cooperation of the Tomsk Region Administration with Light and Robust Constructions technological platform and JSC Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems.

The main objective of cooperation is to set up a small robotic spacecraft group consortium.

"Signing of the memorandum on the consortium is an actual step towards the implementation of the idea we discussed at ISPMS SB RAS anniversary celebrations. Working on this project will allow us not only to complete the task set by the region governor and establish Robotic Technology Center in the region but also to consolidate current work results in cybernetics, spacephysics, electronics and information technologies. I should emphasize that small robotic spacecraft groups are to be function-oriented," Vice Governor Mikhail Sonkin commented on the document signing.

The consortium includes SB RAS Institute of Materials Strength and Physics, JSC Intergovernmental Analytical Center, JSC S.P Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation Energia, Scientific and Technological Center Cosmonit, JSC Russian Space Systems, Moscow Aviation Institute, Tomsk State University, Tomsk Polytechnic University
S.P. Korolev Samara State Aerospace University, JSC M.F. Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems, Light and Robust Constructions technological platform.

As Vice Governor emphasized, the consortium is open (another enterprises and institutes can join it) and it will carry out common fundamental and applied studies, develop engineering education, contribute to continuing education of specialists, masters, postgraduates, academic teaching staff, organize joint seminars and conferences and also develop space industry suggestions for ministries and departments.

The Head of Material Science Field of the consortium, SB RAS ISPMS Director Sergey Psakhie added that practical results of the project can already be seen in two years. Successful implementation of consortium tasks will allow to develop the strategy of space exploration in the 22nd century.
