Tomsk Region is building a special center for breeding valuable fish species, including Siberian sturgeon. The new facility will also produce affordable feedstuff and train entrepreneurs.

The preliminary cost of the project is estimated at 700 million rubles.

“We will start construction in 2016. The design and estimate documentation will be ready by the end of 2015. Meanwhile, we will be looking for investors. The project will use the public-private partnership mechanism,” informs Viktor Sirotin, chairman of the Fishing Committee of Tomsk Region.

The center will be built on the Kandinskoye Water Reservoir near Tomsk. All engineering survey work has been completed, land surveying is in progress.

The project organization and the project execution plan (a ‘roadmap’) are in place. The technology that will be installed as part of the project was brought by a subject matter expert from Karelia who has working experience in a similar facility.
