Elecard to start experimental digital TV broadcasting in Tomsk SEZ in October

29.09.2011

Elecard, Tomsk, is going to start testing digital TV broadcasting in the Tomsk SEZ in mid-October.

«We are waiting to receive permit documents to start broadcasting with a very weak transmitter within the borders of the SEZ. It is possible, though, that nearby houses will also be able to receive the signal," says Elecard CEO Andrey Pozdnyakov.

«We are looking at it as pure experiment. And we hope that when RTRS (Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network) starts building a test system, we’ll be able to see interesting effects of joint broadcasting from different transmitters within the limits of our receivers.»

Elecard produces software and hardware solutions for digital television. The company was founded in 1988. It is headquartered in Tomsk. Since 1995, Elecard has developed software solutions for encoding, decoding, receiving, and transmitting audio and video data in various formats.
At present, Elecard is a group of companies including a number of private IT companies and two research laboratories — one in a Tomsk university and the other in the Radio Research Institute (NIIR), Moscow. The company has over 7,000 customers from 63 countries.
