February 21-24, Mrs. Heiderose Hesske, Deputy Head of Leipzig International Cooperation Department and Klaus Marx, Business Development Manager of Leipzig/Halle Airport visited Tomsk. During the visit the guests from Germany met with representatives of the Tomsk Mayor's Office, Tomsk Region Administration, Tomsk State University, Siberian State Medical University, Russian-German House, and members of the youth organizations willing to enhance cooperation with Leipzig. The meetings resulted in agreements to develop cooperation in medicine, culture, youth exchange programs, and education.
On February 22, a working meeting was held with representatives of the Tomsk Region Administration, tourist business, Tomsk Airport and Leipzig/Halle Airport. The meeting was focused on further negotiations on possible opening of Tomsk-Leipzig flights. It was decided to proceed with the negotiations with leading air carriers of Russia and Germany after the launch of the international terminal at the Tomsk Airport.
