"Virion", Tomsk vaccine producer, participates in Congress in Managua
The main subject of the Congress is bi-lateral cooperation in the field of biotechnology. Russian delegation included the leading Russian scientific and practical institutions in the field of virology and biotechnologies: Research Institute of Serum named after I.I. Mechnikov, Institute of Poliomyelitis and Virus Encephalitis of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Institute of Immunology of FMBA of Russia, St.-Petersburg Institute of Vaccine and Serum, NPO "Microgen". A. Koltunov, Director of NPO "Mikrogen" branch in Tomsk made a report on the company's activity and its role in performing the nation-wide schedule of preventive vaccination.
"Immunization program is one of the strategic goals of the Nicaragua healthcare plan. Our colleagues from Central America were most of all interested in the vaccination experience in Russia, in the immune-biological preparations of new generation, in quality control systems of the mills of the Holding", informed A. Koltunov.
More than 600 workers of medical and pharmaceutical companies from Nicaragua took part in the Congress. They intend to closely cooperate with Russian companies of the industry.
"Nicaragua specialists demonstrated an intention to strengthen and broaden Russian-Nicaragua cooperation in the field of biotechnologies, especially in vaccine production", added NPO "Virion" Director.
Working visit was held within a triplet agreement between Nicaragua Institute of Social Insurance, St.-Petersburg Institute of Vaccine and Serum of Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA) of Russia, and NPO "Microgen" of the RF Ministry of Healthcare on production of vaccine and immune-biological preparations in Nicaragua Republic.

Earlier, on September 12, 2014 Governor of Tomsk region, Deputy Minister of Healthcare and Director General of "Microgen" opened a workshop for production of medical drugs and immune-biological preparations on the site of Tomsk branch of FGUP (Federal State Unitary Enterprise) NPO "Mikogen" of the RF Ministry of Healthcare. NPO "Virion" created 110 years ago as a founder of Russian immunology science is included into FGUP MPO "Mikrogen" of the RF Ministry of Healthcare that was founded in May, 2003. Since August 2012, NPO "Virion" has been headed by A. Koltunov.
