Plenary session of Asian Network of Major Cities in Tomsk

September 4 - 6 13th Plenary session of Asian Network of Major Cities (ANMC21) will take place in Tomsk, with delegations from Tokyo, Delhi, Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Seoul, Singapore, Hanoi, Ulan Bator and Yangon. 

Summit preparation was discussed in the regional administration office under the direction of Alexey Knyazev, deputy governor of the Tomsk region for science-educational complex and innovation policy. The session was also attended by vice governors Andrey Knorr and Yuri Gurdin, executive secretary Anatoly Ivanov, heads of department.

The key event of the meeting will be the panel discussion “Better life through new social initiatives”, where they will be discussing involvement of youth and seniors in social and political life, their active participation  in various initiatives. Tomsk will present its experience working with youth: student unions, business incubators, youth parliament, and volunteer movement. Exchange of opinions concerning social integration of seniors will be tackled. Tomsk authorities are willing to talk about development and support mechanisms of horticultural movement in the region.

The meeting will feature execution of joint projects and pilot programs as part of ANMC21, particularly, Russian language training for foreign teachers with Tomsk universities. National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University is ready to discuss volunteer training for Summer Olympics 2020 in Tokyo.

Entertainment will include children’s painting exhibition, presentation and performance of talent groups – organization members.

The Tomsk region has entered Asian Network of Major Cities in June 2012. This is the only Russian territory that is a member of ANMC21. At the moment it includes Tokyo, Taipei, Manila, Jakarta, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Yangon, Hanoi, Seoul, Ulan Bator, Delhi and Tomsk.
