Tomsk Region Governor Sergey Zhvachkin to take part in the 9th Russia-Kazakhstan Cross-Regional Cooperation Forum

On September 19, the Governor of Tomsk Region Sergey Zhvachkin will take part in the 9th Russia-Kazakhstan Cross-Regional Cooperation Forum in Pavlodar. The Forum will be attended by the Presidents of Russia and Kazakhstan Vladimir Putin and Nursultan Nazarbayev. The Forum 2012 will discuss the cooperation of the two countries in the field of innovations.

The Forum will include an exhibition "Cross-Regional Initiatives in Innovations and Industrial Cooperation of Kazakhstan and Russia". Tomsk Region will present its INOTomsk'2020 project and its innovative products which may attract interest from Kazakhstani partners, such as VitaVallis wound dressing and AquaVallis water filters by Aquelite, MIK-MKS mobile communications system by Micran, LED lamps and lights by Rusled, medical equipment by Dunes and Epitronic, pharmaceutical and beauty products by Solagift, and software by Contek Soft and Aximedia Soft. Tomsk Region Perinatal Center and IPHAR will present their services in medicine and pharmacology research. The Association for Engineering Education of Russia, Tomsk Polytechnic University, Tomsk State Teachers Training University and Industrial Electronics company will present their research, education, and engineering cooperation projects to their Kazakhstani counterparts.

Sergey Zhvachkin will sign a memorandum of cooperation with Pavlodar Region. Many cooperation projects are already running. Tomsk universities work with the Pavlodar State University, Innovative University of Eurasia and Pavlodar State Pedagogical Institute under bilateral agreements and within the Open Siberian University Association. Another promising project is development of a Russian-Kazakhstani electromobile with energy-efficient electric drives. The project is jointly implemented by the Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics and Pavlodar State Univeristy. There is a preliminary agreement that engineers from Tomsk will participate in the creation of a technopark in Pavlodar.

The two regions are also developing cooperation in business and trade. Tomsk company Sibelectromotor has its representative office in Pavlodar. Tomsk companies successfully completed a trade and business mission to Pavlodar in late September and early October 2011. There exist a lot of great cooperation opportunities in innovations. They could include training for students from Kazakhstan in Tomsk universities, implementation of R&D designs by Tomsk companies in the manufacturing sector of Pavlodar Region, joint R&D projects, and creation of joint ventures.
