Italy's Sisvel Technology and Tomsk's Triaxes Vision are presenting a new multipurpose 3D broadcasting format at IBC 2012 in Amsterdam, September 7-11, the Tomsk SEZ's press service reports.

The new 3DZ Tile format provides better quality 3D picture and meets all compatibility and flexibility requirements. It enables users to watch a TV channel on conventional TV sets, 3D TV sets with special glasses and 3D TV sets of the latest generation which do not require glasses.

Sisvel Technology earlier developed the 3D Tile format which transmits stereoscopic images in much better quality compared to a popular 3D television Side-by-Side format. The 3D Tile format is also backward compatible with conventional 2D TV sets.

Triaxes Vision, the developer of a glasses-free 3D TV technology added new features to the 3D Tile format – a so-called Z intensity card containing data similar to brightness or color which enhances the three-dimensional effect. Triaxes has already implemented the 3DZ Tile technology in its video data conversion software DepthGate.
