Tomsk Region topped the innovation activity rating of Russian regions

Peterburgskaya Politika Foundation, Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, and RBK daily newspaper presented their regular Innovation Rating of Russian regions for 2011 with Tomsk Region at the top.
According to the experts, Tomsk Region is a "unique region of Russia where development embraces all development entities – universities, innovation companies, research institutes, and the regional government. Viktor Kress, the governor of the region, named the innovative development the key priority of the region. Tomsk Region was regularly delivering updates on new developments in the meantime being a leader in promoting "people's" innovations. Creation of a Tomsk version of Skolkovo, the INOTomsk'2020 Center for Education, Research and Development was an important event. In 2011-2013, it will have cost the regional budget and private investors 39.9bn rubles."
Tatarstan was the second in the top five innovative Russian regions. Krasnoyarsk Krai ranked the third. Novosibirsk and Moscow Regions took the fourth and the fifths positions respectively.
