Tomsk and Seversk Became Laureates of the Competition “The Best-Appointed Community in Russia”

The competition commission of the Ministry of regional development of RF led by Head of the Agency Igor Slyunyaev summarized on the results of the All-Russian competition “The Best-Appointed City (Rural) Community in Russia” based on the results of 2012.

85 municipal formations participated in the competition in six categories: three — for cities and towns, three — to rural ones. Tomsk Region was represented by Tomsk and Seversk. The Ministry of regional development awarded Tomsk with an honorary diploma for good work on development of utilities and improving the comfort of the municipal formation, while Seversk – with a certificate for high planting rates in the municipal formation.

“Tomsk Region is an active participant of All-Russian competitions in municipal improvement, and Tomsk has several times become a winner”, said Vice-Governor of Tomsk Region for construction and infrastructure Igor Shaturny. “As a result of competitions, we can see a tendency for improving living conditions and increasing of the region’s attractiveness for tourists, as public services and amenities determine the image of the residential area, its beauty and comfort”.

The order of conducting the competition “The Best-Appointed Community in Russia”, the list of rates of development of utilities and public services and amenities of municipal formations as well as criteria for these rates are approved with orders of the Ministry of regional development of Russia. The competition has two stages: the preliminary and the main ones. In the beginning the participants are selected on the regional level; then the best settlements are assessed in six categories on the federal level in accordance with the level of social and economic development.
