Yakutia and Tomsk Region are planning common project implementation

On October 7, in Yakutsk, the Sakha (Yakutia) Republic Government and the Tomsk Region Administration signed an agreement on trade and economic, scientific and technological and cultural cooperation. 

"Our territories are similar in rather extreme living conditions, we have a good grip of each other's problems and we are ready to collaborate for the development of both regions," Deputy Governor of Tomsk Region for scientific and Educational Complex and Innovation Policy Mikhail Sonkin said after signing the agreement.

The Tomsk Region and Yakutia will cooperate in the sphere of industrial diversification for high technologies use and socially important and competitive products release. They will share experience in regional agricultural development programs implementation and market regulations of agricultural products, raw materials and food supplies.

The regions will cooperate in scientific and technical staff training, development and improvement of educational programs with the use of field-oriented institutes and scientific resources of the Tomsk Region and the Sakha Republic. Also the Tomsk Region and Yakutia will hold theatrical and musical tours, museum exhibitions and share experience in the preservation of objects of cultural heritage, historical and cultural monuments.

The agreement includes experience exchange in the sphere of specialized information systems development and application, electronic interdepartmental interaction system development at both territories.

"Republican Integrated Development Program until 2020 sets the objective of training different skilled and competitive specialists, in this context the educational cooperation with the Tomsk Region is a top priority for us. Today there are 619 students from Yakutia in Tomsk universities. I believe this number will continue growing," Feodosia Gabysheva Deputy Head of the Sakha Republic Government noted.

Also she offered the scientists from the Tomsk Region to participate in the integrated scientific expedition of the Russian Academy of Science on industrial research of Yakutia from 2015 to 2020; in the course of the expedition, ecosystem productivity and resistance assessment, detailed geologic exploration and Far North seismic activity and cryogenic assessment are to be carried out.

The Tomsk Region Days are celebrated in the Sakha Republic on October 7-10, the program includes more than 30 business and cultural events among which there is a three-day Educational, Scientific and Innovative Potential of the Tomsk Region exhibition with the participation of six Tomsk universities and 33 innovation companies.
