Tomsk SEZ output grown to 6 billion rubles

In 2014, the annual output of the Tomsk SEZ amounted to 6 billion rubles. Investments by the residents went up to 6.3 billion rubles. Taxes paid by the residents totaled 1.1 billion rubles (vs 817 million in 2013).

In 2014, the Expert Council of the Ministry of Economic Development approved requests from 8 companies with the total amount of investments 918 million rubles. Today, the SEZ has 60 residents.

In 2014, the Northern Site completed the acquisition of a 62 ha (153 acres) land plot. A production facility of the Research and Innovations Company of the Tomsk Polytechnic University Burenie (oil and gas drilling) will be opened soon. In December 2014, Research and Manufacturing Company Stels commissioned on the Southern Site a 4-floor building (3,600 sq m) which will house all company’s departments, including an R&D center and manufacturing shops. The company used its own capital to build the building. The project took 3 years. Stroitekhinnovatsii TDSK is completing construction of a building; Crystal T is working on a building next to the Center for Research and Innovations. Three more residents plan to start construction projects in 2015.

In 2014, a fire station for 6 fire trucks was commissioned. The station will ensure fire safety on the Southern Site, in Akademgorodok and the adjacent regions of the city. Next come customs infrastructure facilities. Design of a building for the Engineering Center and the exhibition center has been completed. In the first half of 2015 a tender will be called for the construction of a 53,000 sq m office building.

Since the beginning, the SEZ has provided over 1,700 new jobs. The majority of personnel in the resident companies are young university graduates. In May 2014, a job fair was held for the first time. It proved that the graduates of Tomsk universities are highly interested in the employment opportunities with SEZ residents.

At the beginning of February the Engineering Center opens a nursery school. It is already taking applications. One of the avenues of the Southern Site became a sports track: it saw a kids relay race, a bicycle race, a marathon, roller skis open championship (sponsored by Natalia Baranova’s Olympic Training Center), etc.

At the end of 2014, the Supervisory Council of the Tomsk SEZ approved the SEZ development plan for 2024. Further development will be based on the integration of the zone into the city’s landscape, attracting private investments for property development projects, building social facilities, setting up a petrochemical cluster on the Northern Site, developing an IT and pharmaceuticals cluster on the Southern Site.
