The Federation Council Supported the Initiatives of Tomsk Oblast to Develop Do Mestic Fish Farming

The Council of the Federation Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Nature Management considered the prospects for the development of the fish industry in the region and proposals of Tomsk citizens to improve the efficiency of aquaculture in inland waters.

According to the participants of the "round table", the dynamics in the fisheries of Tomsk Oblast is the best example of an integrated program approach to the development of fish farming in inland waters. The regional state program “Development of the Industrial Use of Renewable Natural Resources” has been operating in Tomsk Oblast since 2014. For five years, the volume of fish processing in the region increased by 2.6 times, the catch volume - by 2.5 times.

The region has made proposals that will remove barriers and significantly improve the efficiency of aquaculture in inland waters. After discussion at the committee, they all formed the basis of the decision, which is presented to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and the Federal Agency for Fishery.
