Tomsk Region and the "Mariinsky Theatre" entered into cooperation agreement
On April 30th the Tomsk Region administration and the State Academic Mariinsky Theater entered into cooperation agreement in the field of music culture. The document was signed by Sergey Zhvachkin, the Governor, and Valery Gergiev, the Theatre art director.
The Mariinsky Theatre ensemble Stradivari, headed by Valery Gergiev, appeared before the footlights of the Tomsk Big Concert-Hall, arrived from Khabarovsk yesternight. The concert held on in the framework of the Moscow Easter Festival. The well known musicians played for natives of Tomsk the suit of Edvard Grig "From Holberg's Time", the serenade for string orchestra of Petr Tchaikovsky and - encore - " A Little Night Music" of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Valery Gergiev who gave the concert in Tomsk for the first time in December, 2013, thanked Sergey Zhvachkin and natives of Tomsk for another hearty welcome and took a basket of white roses from the Head of the region.
"Our old Siberian city tapped into high art one more time”, - told Sergey Zhvachkin giving thanks to maestro for playing. - The collaboration of Tomsk region with the Mariinsky Theatre has already started: the musicians of the Mariinsky Theatre associate with our young talents and make master classes. With this agreement we give official start to our common work. I suggest doing this not in bureaucratic way, by signing this agreement right now, on the scene."
In the agreement signed by Sergey Zhvachkin and Valery Gergiev, the Administration of Tomsk region and the Mariinsky Theatre concluded agreement as to the common organization and realization of cultural projects in the region, exchange of creative experiment between musicians as to searching, supporting and stimulation of young talented musicians and also as to popularization of choral culture. The Governor of Tomsk and the art director of the Mariinsky Theatre agreed not just to found and train talented children, but also to acquaint them with the operatic and scenic art of world level, to support activities of children and youth chorus and cappella. According to the agreement a professional concert chorus will be created on the basis of the Tomsk Philharmonic.
