Another four regions joined the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia

A meeting of the AIRR members and AIRR Council took place in Moscow. Four new regions – the Republic of Bashkortostan, Lipetsk Region, Samara Region and Ulyanovsk Region ­– were admitted as members of the Association.

Before, the Association included 8 member regions: Tomsk Region, Novosibirsk Region, Irkutsk Region, Kaluga Region, the Republic of Tatarstan, Mordovia, Krasnoyarsk Krai and Perm Krai. Also, it includes such members as Rusnano, Russian Venture Company and the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration.

At the session a new Chairman of the AIRR Council was elected. Viktor Kress, ex-Chairman of the Council, was replaced by Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan. Sergey Naryshkin was re-elected as the Chairman of the AIRR Supervisory Council.

Memorandum on the creation of the interregional Association of Innovative Regions of Russia was signed on May 21, 2010 in Tomsk at the XIII Innovation Forum INNOVUS.

The goal of the Association is to support the effective innovative development of its member regions based on the recognition of the existing R&D growth models.

The AIRR members seek governmental support for their joint innovative, economic, R&D, and educational projects and jointly look for investors. The AIRR member regions provide knowledge-based content for the national innovative development agenda.
