Tomsk Region Administration to develop renewable energy sources together with IFC

A delegation of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) visited Tomsk Region to discuss the details of the agreement on the development of renewable energy sources in Tomsk Region (wind and solar energy, biomass energy, energy from the Earth's core).

According to the Department of Economy of the Tomsk Region Administration, three projects will be developed under this agreement.

The first project will study the potential of the energy sources in the region and provide instrumental measurements of all quality and quantity parameters of these resources.

The second project will select technologies to make use of the known potential of renewable energy sources.

The third project will create a regulatory framework for the development and stable functioning of renewable energy sources.

The program will provide the region with opportunities to use own energy sources and reduce and stabilize energy tariffs. The IFC will fund the program.

Background

The International Finance Corporation is a member of the World Bank group. It has been involved in the program for the development of renewable energy sources in Russia since 2011. Kaluga Region was the first Russian region to conclude a cooperation agreement under this program.
