Tomsk cluster "Pharmaceuticals, Medical Equipment and IT" to obtain support of the Russian Government

The working group of the Russian Government Commission for High Technologies and Innovations recommended subsidizing from the federal budget 13 innovation clusters in Russia, among them a cluster in Tomsk Region.

The development program for the innovation territorial cluster "Pharmaceuticals and Medical Equipment of Tomsk Region" was developed jointly by the Region Administration and the regional Center for Cluster Development. Over 5 years 2.5bn rubles from the federal budget will be spent on the implementation of the program. The money will be allocated for the creation of an engineering center for the development of drugs and medical equipment on the basis of the association "Tomsk Consortium of Research and Educational Organizations". The federal money will also be spent on laboratory process equipment for the development of industrial production of the Tomsk Cluster. The Center is going to be located in the Special Economic Zone.

The experts believe that the engineering center will expedite commercial production of Tomsk inventions. There is a plan to increase the output of cluster products 4 times by 2020.

The program will be implemented by more than 30 leading industrial and innovative enterprises and research and educational organizations such as the Tomsk State University, Tomsk Polytechnic University, Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics, Siberian State Medical University, Scientific and Research Institute of Pharmacology, Virion, Pharmstandard-Tomskkhimpharm, Institute of Strength Physics and Materials Science.
