The delegation from the Netherlands includes representatives of Dutch engineering companies such as Ameco B.V., GID Milieutechniek B.V. (Trisoplast Mineral Liners), VAR B.V. specializing on turning waste into useful products such as electricity and heat. The one-day visit is part of the 15th Crossregional Congress "Energy Saving 2012".

On November 14, at a roundtable session on the subject "Integrating Science, Education, and High Technology for Energy Saving Solutions" they presented a landfill gas recovery project for the Preobrazhenka solid waste landfill in Samara Region.

Before the visit two Region departments – Economy and Environment – worked together on an agreement with the International Finance Corporation on the development of renewable energy sources in the region (signed on August 20, 2012). Currently, the landfill gas potential of the existing solid waste landfills is being investigated. The project is expected to be included in the list of priority cooperation areas with the Environmental Development Technology platform. The cooperation agreement between Tomsk Region and the technology platform will be signed on November 15.
