Tomsk Region Governor invited US companies to set up their R&D and service centers in Tomsk

Governor of Tomsk Region Sergey Zhvachkin spoke at the 12th annual investment conference of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia and presented to the US companies working in Russia the investment potential of Tomsk Region.

"Tomsk hi-tech business has long ago matured for cooperation with large US companies present in the Russian market. Tomsk has many successful examples of joint projects with American IT companies such as Google, Motorola and Microsoft. Some Tomsk firms have their sales offices in the US."

"We have been developing our own technology business for more than 20 years. We currently have more than 500 technology companies originally oriented towards the global market. Tomsk has one of the most developed in Russia infrastructures for the development of innovations centered around a special economic zone of technical innovation type, one of the four such zones in Russia."

Sergey Zhvachkin also informed that today Tomsk SEZ hosts 10 foreign residents, among them Nokia-Siemens, Bosch and R&D center of DivX, US, and there is still a lot of potential to accommodate large foreign players. The Governor of Tomsk Region offered large US companies working in Russia to open R&D centers or set up hi-tech production facilities and service and educational centers for the companies who actively supply their technology and equipment to Russia. "For example, Tomsk research and educational complex could take an active part in the prospective development of the Russian Arctic shelf," he said.

Sergey Zhvachkin called Tomsk Region a window of innovation opportunities and gave a detailed account of benefits for the technology business in the Tomsk SEZ and special property and profit tax concessions for investors.

Sergey Zhvachkin invited the President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia Andrew Somers and American businesspeople to visit Tomsk Region.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Russia is an independent non-government business association with corporate membership. AmCham Russia is affiliated with the US Chamber of Commerce and accredited by the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
