Tomsk State University (TSU) and the Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) were included in the TOP-15 classification of Russian higher education institutions

On 8 July the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation published the list of 15 Russia’s leading universities which are entitled to federal subsidy to enhance the international competitiveness. It included TSU and TPU. The Ministry of Education and Science reports that the total budget of this project to enhance the international competitiveness of Russia’s leading universities is expected to be 9 billion roubles. Initially, 54 higher education institutions applied to participate in the competition, in the final only 36 universities left.

15 Russia’s leading universities include 2 from Tomsk. It is a great win for our higher education schools and for the entire region, - the Governor Sergey Zhvachlin underlined. Our new prospective projects - “Tomsk embankments” and construction of inter-university student campus are becoming a reality after a decision has been made by the Ministry of Education and Science”.
