10.09.2013

The QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) rating features National research Tomsk state university and Tomsk polytechnic university.

Both Tomsk universities have retained their positions in the top-700 foreign and Russian universities and are featured in the group 551–600. Tomsk polytechnic university has gone up, taking the position from the group 601+.

“I believe that in the future we will see more intensive growth of both universities. Despite the political nature of the world ratings, the high quality of the Tomsk higher education is obvious on international scale,” said deputy governor of the Tomsk region for the academic complex and innovation policy Aleksey Knyazev.

Among 18 Russian universities, included in the rating, the leader is the MSU, taking the 120th place. The first positions are taken by MIT, Harvard and Cambridge universities.

The rating is based on six criteria: reputation in academic sphere, publications, the proportion of the number of students and teachers, the relevance of graduates, relative number of foreign teachers and students.
