Siberians chose a high speed railway route between Krasnoyarsk and Novosibirsk through Tomsk

The participants of an on-line survey held by Krasnoyarsk railway supported a project on high speed railway between Krasnoyarsk and Novosibirsk through Tomsk.

The survey encompassed 10,809 people. Citizens of Krasnoyarsk and large cities and regions of the Siberian Federal District expressed their positive attitude to the project of high speed transport link between Krasnoyarsk and Novosibirsk. Among the three options of the Siberian High Speed Rail route (through Tomsk, through Kemerovo and through Taiga) the maximum support was given to the one through Tomsk.

The majority of the survey participants (8568 people or 79.3%) think that the route through Tomsk is most appropriate. The second position was taken by the route through Kemerovo, for which 1056 people (or 9.8%) voted "yes". Only 3% of the responders (318 people) voted for the third option of the High Speed Rail through Taiga

Now it takes 12 hours for the train to travel from Krasnoyarsk to Novosibirsk (768 km) by the existing railway. In case a standalone railway is built, at maximum train speed of 250 km/h, the travel time will reduce 4 times.
