Tomsk region announced international contest for development of a concept of Science and Technology museum

Architects Union of Russia and Tomsk State University of Architecture and Building with the support of Administration of Tomsk region announce an open international contest for architectural and urban planning concept of Science and Technology museum.   

The museum is an integral part of a large-scale project “Waterfronts of Tomsk” and is also within a new business and cultural and educational centre along Tom River, which is under construction.  This object will become a modern scientific, cultural and educational centre in Siberia and will be focused on increase of public education level, formation of research competences, innovational activity through interactive and interdisciplinary communication.    

The contest has two stages: July 21 – 28- open qualifications, August 20 – October 21- rating of finalists` concepts by the jury. After the first stages 5 participants are chosen with whom then a contract of 1 million rubles for development of architectural and urban planning concept is concluded. The terms and conditions of the contract are defined by the contract task and regulations.   

The president of the jury is the People`s architect of the Russian Federation, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, professor, full corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts Vladilen Krasilnikov. Other jury members: Architects Union of Russia vice-president, Honored Architect  of RSFSR Yarkun Mukhamedkhanov, head of Regional Department of Architecture and Construction Dmitry Assonov, Tomsk mayor first deputy, chairman of Tomsk branch of Designers Union of Russia Evgeniy Parshuto, representatives of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Construction and Housinf and Maintenance Utilities of the Russian Federation.
