Chemical technology engineering center opened in Tomsk Region

27.05.2014

Leonid Reznikov, Deputy Governor of Tomsk Region and Eduard Galazhinsky, the Principal of National Research Tomsk State University (TSU) opened an engineering center for development and scaling up of new chemical technologies, unique in Siberia and the Far East.

National Research Tomsk State University was the prime mover behind the idea for foundation of the center.

As reported by Leonid Reznikov, the Vice-Governor, the Chemical Technology Engineering center will make it possible to build pilot plants and scale up technologies to actual production. Technologies developed in the Center will be handed over to the existing chemical complex plants or will be placed at the industrial site of the city of Tomsk and Tomsk Special Economic Zone as stand-alone technological start-up companies.

Chemical Technology Engineering Center at the TSU – is a single center behind the Urals to streamline the technologies not only for chemical industry of the region but also for the whole indigenous chemical industry market. "We will support emerging of such centers along with the Tomsk industrialists. This a mandatory pre-requisite for development of our region", stressed Leonid Reznikov.

"It was an Entrepreneurs Day yesterday and tomorrow we celebrate Tomsk State University birthday, therefore the opening of the Center is quite symbolic", noted Eduard Galazhinsky, the Principal of the TSU. – Development of the University and its competitiveness at the world level is interconnected with realization of huge scientific projects. TSU partners successful industrial companies with university roots for building up the Engineering Center. We think to raise more money for the University projects related to chemical technology, and increase the output of the University companies for the key industries of our country.

In Chemical Technology Engineering Center a technology for production of glycoluril (modifier for production of wooden boards with reduced formaldehyde emission), metronidazole (active material of metronidazole medicine, which is part of the Essential Drug List) and fertilizers, city household reagents, etc. will be created. On top of that catalyst production technologies for oil treatment processes and new generation chemicals for desulphurization will be streamlined.
