Tomsk and Novosibirk regions will be connected with a western route

Sergey Zhvachkin and Vladimir Gorodetsky, the Governors of the Tomsk and Novosibirsk Regions, signed the agreement on design, construction and operation of Igol-Orlovka road. 

The parties agreed to collaborate on a transport corridor that will connect the Tomsk and Novosibirsk Regions to Omsk and Tyumen regions through the western route. The road will go from Igolsko-Talovoe Oil Deposit located in Kargasoksky district of the Tomsk Region to Orlovka village located in Kyshtovsky District of Novosibirsk region. From south it will provide an access to M51 Baikal Federal Highway and the Trans-Siberian Railway, from the north it will give an access to the Northern Latitudinal Corridor and a pass through Strezhevoy into Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District.

Total length of Igol - Orlovka road will make up 137 kilometers, 57 of which will go through the Tomsk Region.

The agreement states that the facility shall be designed, constructed and operated using the tools of a state-private partnership.

The Governors agreed to prepare project estimates in 2015 and start constructing the new road in 2016.

"In the words of Peter the Great, I'd like to say that today we are cutting another window to our regions," Sergey Zhvachkin, the Tomsk Region Governor highlighted signing the agreement. "New road is an important social project encouraging the development of big oil deposits in the north of our region. The Igol - Orlovka road will allow us to actively develop cross-border regions and dynamically collaborate with each other."

Tomsk Governor added that nowadays oil companies developing Kargasoksky district deposits have to deliver industrial cargo over the distance of 1800 kilometers. The Vakh river bridge in the Strezhevoy outskirts which will be put into operation in the fall of this year together with the new road will allow reducing logistical costs and make production more effective.

"This agreement precisely expresses our intents on road network development," Novosibirsk Governor Vladimir Gorodetsky noted. "Construction of the new road section will solve the issues of employment in the construction area. Our regions have a high potential of collaboration and this road is just a part of cooperation between Novosibirsk and Tomsk Regions."

Sergey Zhvachkin awarded a 70 Years of Tomsk Region jubilee medal to Vladimir Gorodetsky. It is to be recalled that the Novosibirsk region used to be a part of Tomsk guberniya, the 210th anniversary of which is also celebrated in 2014.

Governors also had a one-on-one working meeting. Sergey Zhvachkin and Vladimir Gorodetsky discussed the cooperation in the spheres of science, technology and innovations, trade turnover increase, common infrastructure projects and projects on wild harvest gathering and production.
