The Siberian Group of Chemical Enterprises (SGChE) with the participation of scientists of Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) has produced a prototype of beryllium, which time was first developed in Russia.

December 23, 2014 with participation of the President of the fuel company of Rosatom «TVEL» Yuri Venison at the meeting was provided a sample of beryllium produced by SGChE, where also discussed about the possibility of its production at the plant.

It is the first laboratory, which have received beryllium in Russia, noted vice-rector of TPU Alexander Dyachenko. Now this metal produced only in three countries: Kazakhstan, China and the USA.

Beryllium is use in nuclear, aerospace, engineering, X-ray technology, in the manufacture of laser and refractory materials, when create rocket fuel. The metal used mainly as an additive to alloys that can significantly improve their hardness and strength.

Additive of 0.5% beryllium in steel allows producing a spring, which spring at red heat. It is able to withstand billions of cycles for a considerable amount of load. In addition, beryllium does not have sparkles when hitting a stone or metal.
