On 16 March this year, the new draft of the Strategy of social-economic development of the Tomsk region till 2030 was discussed in details at the meeting of the Expert Council of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives.

The event was attended by the head of department of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration Vladimir Klimanov (representative of the draft developers), deputy governor of Tomsk region in Economics Andrew Antonov, head of Economics Department of the Tomsk region Administration Tatiana Chudinova and head of the Investments Department of the Tomsk region, Alexander Fedchenko.

The aim of actualization of the Strategy is solution of key social and economic objectives of the Tomsk region, improvement of living standards in the region, development of production, investment, innovation and human capacity in the region.

Andrew Antonov noted that actualized Strategy is the main regional document for strategic planning and brings together all existing strategies and concepts in all spheres of development of the Tomsk region.

Unlike the previous strategy, built on the branch principle, the developers of the updated document identified five cross-cutting 'substantial' priorities: innovations, human capital, conditions for investments, effective regional policy, effective management. Vladimir Klimanov emphasized that these priorities agreed with "tree of objectives" of the Strategy and regional government programs.

Previously, the draft of updated Strategy was discussed at strategic sessions of the Expert Councils of the deputy governor of the Tomsk region for economy and investment policy and property relations, with the participation of representatives of the municipalities. The adoption of the document is scheduled for April 2015.
