The Siberian Center is located in the Tomsk special technology development economic area and is headed by Vladislav Sychkov.
The Governor Sergey Zhvachkin emphasized that the opening of the center is not the result of the behind-the-scenes agreements.
"Our research and educational groups, innovative companies have won the right to develop robotics in a fair fight. In the Tomsk region we have systematically been engaged in robotics of a wide variety of areas for decades, including the military, special and dual purpose, - said Sergey Zhvachkin. — From kindergarten we prepare future specialists: today, fifteen hundred of our under-fives and seven thousand school students design robots. In Tomsk universities more than three thousand students study 11 robotics and military-industrial complex specialties."
The head of the region noted that the Tomsk science is distinguished by close relationship with industry and called the integration projects of the scientists and manufacturers: Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TUSUR) together with Micran Company create safety systems of strategic facilities, the National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University launched into orbit the world's first nano-satellite and is working on autonomous underwater vehicle control technologies.
"Tomsk region has historically focused on the technology needs of the military-industrial complex, - stressed Sergey Zhvachkin. - In the Great Patriotic War more than 30 industrial plants and dozens of elite schools of science from almost all the Union republics were evacuated to Tomsk. In 50-ies, Tomsk region was chosen for the large-scale project "The Nuclear Shield of Motherland", and it is here where Kurchatov laid the application-oriented areas of our science."
The Director General of the Foundation for Advanced Studies Andrei Grigoriev noted that over the past two years he has been becoming acquainted with Tomsk scientific schools before making a decision on the opening of the Siberian center in Tomsk. "Why Tomsk was chosen instead of Novosibirsk? This question provoked a storm of debate in the Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, but we nail our colors to the mast. The decision to establish a robotics center in Tomsk is not spontaneous but thoughtful"- emphasized the head of the private equity fund (FPI).
Sergey Zhvachkin, Andrei Grigoriev and Oleg Martianov acquainted with Tomsk robotic developments which in Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the framework of opening the Siberian center were represented by the companies "Elecard", "Micran", "EleSi", "Manel", "Mechatronics-Pro", as well as the National Research Tomsk State and Tomsk Polytechnic Universities, Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TUSUR) and Siberian State Medical University (SibSMU).
The Director of the Siberian Center of Robotics Vladislav Sychkov told on the future plans of the first regional branch of the Foundation for Advanced Studies.
"The center should be open and accessible to all people and ideas. The words "we cannot meet you, come back tomorrow" should not sound here"- the Governor Sergey Zhvachkin instructed the Director of the center.
The working principles of Siberian robotics center were formalized in the cooperation agreement, which was signed today, between Tomsk region and the Foundation for Advanced Studies by Zhvachkin Sergei and Andrei Grigoriev.
