Tomsk Region Governor Kicks Off Construction of the New Airport Passenger Terminal

The region’s head initiated the construction of the new terminal on the eve of the birthday of the legendary aircraft designer, Nikolay Kamov, a graduate of Tomsk Polytechnic University.  Tomsk airport received Kamov’s name on the results of the project Great Names of Russia on the 31st of May 2019 by the decree of the president of Russia Vladimir Putin.

At the foundation stone ceremony, Governor Sergei Zhvachkin talked about a major renovation of the whole Tomsk airport complex.  At the expense of federal financing of 2.8 bln rubles, the reconstruction of the runway is in full swing.  More than 800 mln rubles were directed for the repairs of approaching roads to the airport and construction of the parking lot in the last three years from the federal and regional budgets.  Construction of the new building of the terminal will be at the expense of the main owner of Tomsk airport – Novaport holding and will cost the investor almost 2.8 bln rubles.

The head of the region also noted that the new terminal, which is scheduled to be put in service as early as 2023 will service domestic flights, and the acting one – international flights.

In his turn, the general director of Novaport holding, Sergei Rudakov, and the director of Tomsk airport, Anton Perfilyev, stated that the area of the new terminal will be seven thousand square meters.  When it is put in service, the total area of the Tomsk airport complex will expand to seventeen thousand square meters.
