03.07.2012

According to Peng Guo Qing, General Director of a joint Russian-Chinese company RosKitInvest, China's AVIC Forestry will build in Tomsk Region a heat power plant and a fiberboard plant by 2013 for 2.8bn rubles.

Earlier, it was reported that RosKitInvest would build 6 to 8 timber plants on the site of the former Asino Wood Processing Mill before 2020. The total investment cost of the project is estimated at 20bn rubles. The plants will produce OSB, MDF, particleboards, and plywood.

"Engineering of the power plant is already in progress. Construction will start right after the engineering is complete. I believe, at the end of the year. As the general director I am looking forward to starting it up in a year and a half at the end of 2013. The investment cost of the construction of a 36 MW heat power plant is 1,000,500,000 rubles," says Mr. Peng.

The power plant will burn biomass and gas and produce heat and electricity for the Mill. Mr. Peng also informed that in 2013 the investor will start building a 200,000 cbm MDF board plant.

"The plan is to complete the construction of both plants next year. The plant's energy demand is about 15 MW. The investment cost is about 1.3bn rubles," Mr. Peng explained.

The total capital spending under the first stage of the project is around 5-6bn rubles.
