Membership of Tomsk Region with the Asian Network of Major Cities (ANMC21) will attract foreign students and young scientists from Southeast Asia and facilitate the implementation of joint research and education projects.

Today, foreign students account for 9% of the student population in Tomsk universities. In accordance with the adopted concept to develop Tomsk as a center for education, research, and development (INOTomsk'2020) the share of foreign students in Tomsk universities should grow to 20%.

Tomsk government will also develop cooperation in information and communications technologies involving organization of one-stop access to public services and implementation of e-ticket and traffic regulation systems.

Background

Tomsk Region became the official member of the ANMC21 at the plenary meeting in Singapore. The other participants unanimously welcomed Tomsk Region membership in the organization created by the Government of Tokyo.
