Tomsk University became a venture partner of the RVC Seed Investment Fund

The Tomsk State University (TSU) entered into the register of venture partners of the Russian Venture Company Seed Fund which focuses on investments in Russian innovative companies with high growth potential.

There are currently 112 registered Venture Partners of the RVC Seed Fund. These organizations search for innovation projects, prepare them for the presentation to the Investment Committee of the Fund, provide support for projects and interact with the Fund's experts.

Developers and small businesses seeking to attract venture capital should contact management companies of venture funds or venture partners of the Seed Fund. Preparation of documents required for the consideration of the funding application usually costs dozens of thousands of rubles. Now the TSU will be responsible for the preparation of such applications. It will develop a business model with co-investors and submit applications directly to the Investment Committee of the RVC Seed Fund.

This joint work of the TSU, private investors and the RVC Seed Fund will facilitate raising money for the innovative startups created by the university under the Federal Law of No. 217-FL and the launch of innovative products to the market.

The TSU has got its new status as a result of systematic work. The university has been developing cooperation with venture capital funds for the last few years. The university staff takes part in specialized events. For example, in 2011, several high-tech projects by the University were presented at the IV Kazan Venture Fair, and in 2012 TSU representatives visited the XII Russian Venture Fair in St. Petersburg.

Working with venture capital requires special knowledge and skills. R&D commercialization experts from the TSU have been trained under the program "Attracting Additional Funding for Direct (Venture) Investments" developed by request of Rusnano and intend to further improve their qualification in this area.
