Tomsk Region Governor met with British Ambassador to Russia

On May 25, Sergey Zhvachkin, Tomsk Region Governor met with Tim Barrow, British Ambassador to Russia. The breakfast meeting took place in the Ambassador's residence in Moscow, the Region Administration press office reports.

The parties discussed the accumulated positive experience of cooperation between Tomsk and British companies and organizations, including the project for the promotion of Tomsk's innovations to the European markets with the help of ISIS Innovation and Eurasia Consortium, and a joint project run by Micran, Kember Associates, and Merit Merrell Technology for the construction of a plant manufacturing radio frequency electronic equipment. Tomsk Region seeks to attract British experts and investors for joint research, implementation of commercialization plans, academic exchanges, cooperation in technical and process issues.

Among the proirities identified by Sergey Zhvachkin are making the region a comfortable place to live and work for people, including those involved in scientific research, education, and innovations. That was discussed as one of potential areas of cooperation with British developers present at the breakfast meeting.

Tim Barrow is planning to visit Tomsk in September as the leader of a British business mission which will bring to Tomsk managers of British companies willing to locate their business in Tomsk Region, and the Tomsk SEZ in particular. By that time the Tomsk Region Administration and British Embassy will have developed and approved scientific research and innovation cooperation programs.

Also, the work will continue on the construction of Micranom, a communications electronics equipment plant in the Tomsk SEZ. Kember Associates and Merit Merrell Technology plan to visit Tomsk and discuss possibilities to open their offices in the Tomsk SEZ.
