On October 18, the Governor of Tomsk Region Sergey Zhvachkin and the British Ambassador to Russia Tim Barrow had a face-to-face meeting in the Governor's office as part of the Ambassador's visit to Tomsk with a delegation of British businesspeople.

Sergey Zhvachkin and Tim Barrow discussed cooperation opportunities for Tomsk and UK companies. The Governor emphasized that the regional government has a task to create comfortable environment for international cooperation.

"The government's task is to become a bridge for the business of the two countries. We must help our businesses to make this way which is equally difficult both for Russian and British companies."

"There is still lack of demand for Tomsk's research and development potential and that is why we are and will be building this bridge," he added.

Cooperation was also the subject of discussions at the Reception House where the Governor and the British Ambassador met with the businesspeople. Tomsk Region Deputy Governor for Investment Policy and Property Relations Yuri Gurdin also took part in the negotiations.

At the end of the meeting Tim Barrow assured that the UK will take the maximum advantage of the cooperation opportunities with Tomsk.
