Hilton to build two hotels in Tomsk

25.07.2013

Hilton plans to build two modern hotels in Tomsk, as quoted by deputy governor for investment policy and property relations Yuri Gurdin.

As it was previously stated, the Tomsk region governor Sergey Zhvachkin had offered Hilton to build a world-class hotel in Tomsk, since the city lacks such facilities, and assigned his deputies to give green light to the company.  Zhvachkin stated that the “arrival of world-class hotel business to Tomsk is the significant event for investors and authorities.”

“The negotiations with Hilton management in Russia and CIS are underway. They would like to build two hotels instead of one. One for businessmen, simply to stay the night, have a decent meal and the other one with a conference hall and higher service,” said the deputy governor.

He also stated that the authorities proposed several sites for the construction, they are being examined by the engineers. According to Gurdin, Hilton representatives assured the Tomsk authorities that they will cooperate. Deputy governor also said that the design will take from 1 to 1.5 years, and the construction will take about the same amount of time.

“The biggest problem is the absence of completely unencumbered site. Overcoming this “barrier” will cost money. For instance, resettlement and demolition of hazardous dwellings. We will help overcome this “barrier”. The governor realizes how much Tomsk needs this hotel. And regional and municipal authorities are ready to bear some expenses,” said Gurdin.
