Tomsk polytechnic university to train specialists for space industry

Center of highly qualified personnel training for space industry will appear in Tomsk polytechnic university (TPU), an agreement between the university and  the S.P. Korolev rocket and space corporation “Energia” was signed on Wednesday, as quoted by TPU representatives.

It was previously stated that “Energia” and the university are working on a spaceship of a new generation: Tomsk scientists participate in management of structural connection quality of the spaceship.  

The new center will feature training of master’s students and postgrads.  New areas for open enrollment of master’s and postgrads are not specified yet. However it’s already known that the program will either be of double degree nature, or include training in other Tomsk or, perhaps, Moscow universities.  

“The parties state their willingness to combine scientific and production project with personnel training in order to achieve better results in training of personnel of high and higher qualification,” says the university press-service.

National research Tomsk polytechnic university was founded in 1896 as Tomsk imperial technological institute of Nicolas II of Russia. The university includes 11 institutes, 99 departments, 65 research laboratories, 20 of them — international. The “innovation belt” of TPU includes 77 small businesses.
