Tomsk residents build a new pig farm in Krasnoyarsk

Heads of RF Ministry of Agriculture and Krasnoyarsk territory authorities have visited the new closed cycle pig farm in Bolshemurtinsky District.

Nikolay Fyodorov and Viktor Tolokonsky have examined the grounds, became familiar with the project perspectives and assessed its value for the agroindustrial complex of the region. The foundation stone of the future enterprise was laid last year’s June. In May, only in 335 days the first pigs appeared here. By autumn there should be 10 600 pigs.

The maximum capacity of the farm — 140 thousand pigs simultaneously, and overall production — 18.2 thousand tones in slaughter weight and 24.5 thousand tones live weight per year.

Nikolay Fyodorov, head of the RF Ministry of Agriculture: “Projects like Krasnoyarsk Pig Farm play important role in the region economy and the development of agroindustrial sphere of the whole country. New pig farms, built by all modern European standards according to the production technologies is a significant contribution into the economy and food supply security of our country.”

When reaching full production capacity, the enterprise will be able to not only cover the demand of the Krasnoyarsk market in pork, but also, according to the minister, supply other Russian regions, as well as other countries: Kazakhstan, along with Asia-Pacific Region.

Andrey Tyutyushev, CEO Siberian Agrarian Group: “At the moment the region has shortage of pork. The cost is on average 10 rubles higher than in Tomsk. Krasnoyarsk Pig Farm will provide the citizens with fresh, high-quality, cheaper pork. In addition, the enterprise will create about six hundred jobs and will become stable taxpayer in the regional budget.”
