Tomsk Region hits top five most stable regions in Russia

In view of Peterburgskaya Politika Fund, in April 2014 Tomsk Region hit the top five most socially and politically stable regions in Russia.

In the April's rating Tomsk Region moved into the fifth position. The first four positions were taken by the Republic of Sakha, Kaluga, Ulyanovsk, and Penza Regions.

According to experts, among April's positive events there were signing of a road map for cooperation between Russian Venture Company and Tomsk Region Administration, signing of an agreement with Rosnano on construction of a PET Center in Tomsk for early detection of oncological diseases, and ZAO RosKitInvest's plans to start up three timber factories in Asino District. Events like opening in TGASU (Tomsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering) of a civil structure test center, the only one beyond the Urals, as well as the startup of a new automated line for semi-finished goods production in Tomsk meat packing factory, contributed to a positive image of the region. In addition, the experts emphasized the following April's events: Tomsk young scientists' forum U-NOVUS, Governor Sergey Zhvachkin's decision on additional financing of Tomsk-Asino electric train, and a number of other factors.

As for the plans to close the Obstetric Clinic of the Siberian Medical University, it sparked a public outcry and was called by the experts the only event which undermined the social peace of the region.
