"Tomskneftekhim" opened a modernized polymer production

On September, 15, the Governor of the Tomsk region Sergey Zhvachkin, the Chairman of the board of OJSC "NOVATEK", the head of the board of directors of PJSC "SIBUR Holding" Leonid Michelson, the chairman of the board of directors of "SIBUR" LLC Dmitry Konov and the Deputy Minister of Energy Kirill Molodtsov opened the modernized complex for the production of polypropylene and polyethylene at the site "Tomskneftekhim".
The participants of the ceremony launched the modernized production, putting a hand to touch panels. The update of polymer production companies in Tomsk, which had been launched in 1980-1990- ies, started in 2012. This investment project, in which the petrochemical holding company has invested more than ten billion rubles, is implemented with the regional support. The Director General of "Tomskneftekhim" LLC Maksim Rogov showed Zhvachkin Sergei, Leonid Michelson and Dmitry Konov the updated production, spoke about the processes and 4 safety system, demonstrated operation of the central control unit, granulation unit, the ethylene polymerization plants, and other sites. Launching the updated production of "Tomskneftekhim", the Governor Sergei Zhvachkin thanked the investors and builders for the modernization of one of the leading manufactures in the Tomsk region. "Today a new" Tomskneftekhim" is being born", - said the governor of the Tomsk region Sergey Zhvachkin. - Modernization will allow the company to operate for decades and grow."
The Deputy Energy Minister of the Russian Federation Kirill Molodtsov conveyed greetings of the Energy Minister Alexander Novak, in which the Minister said that the production of high- quality petrochemical products is an important part of the state import substitution program. The head of «NOVATEK» Leonid Michelson praised the quality of the Tomsk region modernization. "The reconstruction of the existing production is much more difficult than construction of a new one", - said Leonid Michelson to Tomsk citizens, praising the importance of the investment climate of the Tomsk region to the economy of the enterprise. As the result of modernization, two main production sites, the polyethylene and low-density polyethylene, were upgraded by 72%. The resident of the Tomsk special economic zone, R ;D- Center "SIBUR", the Tomsk "NIOST" company, took an active part in this project.
The innovative developments allowed improving the characteristics of the existing grades of low- density polypropylene and polypropylene, significantly expanding the range of issued products. The enterprise design capacity increased as well, totally by 10.5%: Low density polyethylene - from 130 to 140 thousand tons per year, polypropylene - from 245 to 270 tons. "This investment project solved two issues: improved the product quality and determined the future of the whole petrochemical cluster of the Tomsk region, the heart of which is "Tomskneftekhim", - commented on the Tomsk Governor Sergei Zhvachkin.
In modernization of production at "Tomskneftekhim" 219 Russian contractors and suppliers of equipment and materials were involved, including 55 Tomsk enterprises. Among them there are "Tomskcable", "Sibteploelektrokomplekt", "Tomskpromsnab", "Khimremont", "Tominvest", "Micronics" and others. When launching the upgraded production, the head of "SIBUR" Dmitry Konov noted that "the fundamental importance of radical modernization, carried out on the Tomsk site with the assistance of the Tomsk Region Administration, is the production of the products new in quality and range". "This will allow replacing significant volumes of imported polymers on the Russian market which are used in the sphere of housing and communal services, road construction, packaging, and consumer goods" - said Dmitry Konov, thanking the Governor Sergei Zhvachkin for the active promotion of the project.
After the symbolic start of the processes, Sergey Zhvachkin, Leonid Michelson and Dmitry Konov, together with the employees of the company have laid the cedar alley on the updated site. The Vice-governor Igor Shaturny, Yuri Gurdin, Andrey Antonov, the chairman of the economic policy committee of the Legislative Duma of the Tomsk region Arkady Eskin and others also took part in the launch of the renovated production of "Tomskneftekhim".
