Tomsk timber exporters can supply products through the nearest border points again

05.06.2023

By Russian government Decree No. 917 of June 2, road points Kulunda, Veseloyarsk and Olkhovka were added to the list of operating border points.

Looking back at the end of 2022, the procedure for exporting products through the Russian-Kazakhstan section of the state border was changed, as a result, the nearest point appeared to be 1,400 kilometers away from Tomsk, in the Kurgan region. Thus, the Tomsk companies were in an unfair playing field as compared to the enterprises from other regions.

In February, Vladimir Mazur, Governor of the Tomsk region, sent a corresponding appeal to Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Russian Government. The Governor’s team made major efforts for the relevant agencies to lift the restrictions for the Tomsk timber producers.
