Investments in the Economy of the Tomsk Oblast Increased by 121.8%

According to Tomskstat, total capital investments in the Tomsk Oblast amounted to RUB 74.06 billion in H1 of 2024 – 121.8% growth compared to the same period last year.

 Mineral extraction accounts for the largest share of the capital investments, which is 37.1%. Manufacturing has the second largest share – 19.3% and transportation and storage the third – 12.4%.

The investment growth in the region in H1 of 2024 is driven by the active investment phase of the projects in the oil and gas extraction, timber, radioelectronics, housing construction, agricultural and food production sectors.

For instance, the regional oil and gas companies invested in the geological exploration and equipment modernization and the agricultural companies upgraded their agro-processing facilities. The active construction of the new passenger terminal of the International Airport named after Nikolai Kamov was completed in H1.

It is expected that further investment growth will be driven by the clusters of low-tonnage chemistry, microelectronics, timber and rare metals to be established in the region based on the well-developed scientific base, engineering competencies and high-tech production facilities, as well as the agreements reached at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum with respect to logistics, housing construction and hospitality projects.

Intensification of cooperation between the Tomsk and Belarusian companies and strengthening of collaboration of the regional industrial companies with Gazprom PJSC, KAMAZ PJSC and other vertically integrated companies in development, manufacturing and supply of the import-substituting products and equipment will also contribute to the investment growth. 

Relaunch of the industrial investment policy fosters favorable investment climate in the Tomsk Oblast.

The investment infrastructure is developing; particularly an engineering center is under construction in the Tomsk special economic zone.
