Vasily Potemkin, Deputy Governor of the Tomsk region for investment policy and property relations, member of the Russian delegation at the 24th meeting of the Russian-Vietnamese Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, held a number of negotiations in Hanoi and demonstrated the region’s industrial and investment potential.

It has become the first visit of the Russian delegation, headed by Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government, to Vietnam since lifting the COVID-19 restrictions.

The meeting proved that strengthening strategic partnership with Vietnam remains one of the priorities of the Russian foreign policy. The participants of the intergovernmental commission developed a cooperative plan for new projects in industry, agriculture, energy, finance, transport and digitalization. Industry task groups have been set up in almost every cooperation area.

The Tomsk region was the only region that was represented by the executive authorities in the Russian delegation to Vietnam and had a chance to build up direct contacts with the key foreign partner.

The project to develop the Tugansk ore sand deposit attracted significant attention of the Vietnamese participants.

The option for the Tomsk universities to participate in the project “Speaking Russian, studying in Russia” and to present themselves in Vietnam this fall was discussed with the management of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Hanoi.
