Tomsk Governor and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade to create an industrial cluster in the region

At the meeting, Vladimir Mazur, Governor of the Tomsk Region, presented the cluster concept to Alexey Besprozvannykh, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia. Tugansk Ore Mining and Processing Enterprise “Ilmenite” is to be the core of the cluster in the Tomsk region. In the fall of 2022, the enterprise launched its first line of processing ore sands and producing concentrates designed for the construction industry, metallurgy, and other industries. The industrial cluster will make it possible to develop additional production facilities around “Ilmenite” with the production cycle based on the enterprise's products. The parties agreed to prepare a “communication map” for the new cluster.

Vladimir Mazur and Alexey Besprozvannykh also discussed the development of the regional timber processing and support tools for the industrial production.

The Governor invited the representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia to join the international forum of consortiums and associations of the northern territories. National Research Tomsk State University initiated the forum with the purpose of structuring and enhancing the effectiveness of the Russian projects to explore and develop the Arctic.
