Governor Vladimir Mazur presents scientific and technological potential of the region to the management of Association of Innovative Regions of the Russian Federation

November 8, Governor of Tomsk Region Vladimir Mazur held a working meeting with Alexander Smekalin, Director of the Association of Innovative Regions of the Russian Federation, who is on a trip to the region heading a delegation of Association of Innovative Regions of the Russian Federation.
Alexander Smekalin who was appointed head of the association in October, noted that he is visiting the Tomsk Region, the first of 18 regions of Association of Innovative Regions of the Russian Federation.
"I believe that the Tomsk Region has become the first region in the schedule of your trips for a good reason," Vladimir Mazur addressed Alexander Smekalin. "The Association of Innovative Regions of the Russian Federation has its origins in Tomsk. It was found here in 2010. Tomsk is one of the centers of innovative development of Russia."
Governor Vladimir Mazur spoke about research and education and production and technological sector of the region. He described the special economic zone, which was opened by Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2006.
The delegation of Association of Innovative Regions of the Russian Federation visited the Tomsk SEZ, where they learned about developments of the SEZ residents, as well as the research and production company Mikran and private IT-park Herzen.
The head of the region also introduced the director of the Association of Innovative Regions of the Russian Federation to the Tomsk higher school. "Universities are the pride and "business card" of our region. We have six of them. Four participate in the federal project Priority 2030. Three universities won government grants and created advanced engineering schools. There are only four schools of this kind in the Urals, and three of them are here! Tomsk has a powerful scientific, technological and personnel potential, which we are constantly developing," emphasized Governor Vladimir Mazur.
